Vice President, Strategy And Data
CurrentWhat does a VP of Strategy and Data actually do?Great question! The way I think about it: I make strategy understandable and actionable. The priority focus is to set, sync, and communicate strategy across FCT. On the surface that seems simple, but strategy itself can be quite fuzzy. Layer in coordination of planning cycles and ensuring our teams are spending time on the most meaningful actions to progress towards our product vision/target business outcomes, and that’s the challenge that makes this role so rewarding. An essential input to good strategy is a proper diagnosis of the current environment and challenge/opportunity. Strategy is only effective if all team members are pointed in the right direction with a shared understanding of success. To drive this alignment and execute, I work with teams in sales, product, marketing, design, and engineering. We relentlessly focus on clarity around what strategy means: what we are after, why we are after it, and how it aligns with long term transformation and business targets. When we get it right, the outcomes result in 10x value for our customers, and the business benefits in turn.A key pillar of my role is not just navigating the present, but also peaking around corners and boldly looking ahead to future trends, positioning FCT at the forefront of innovation and market leadership in our space. This may take the form of new product development, corporate development and venturing, or straight up M&A activity. On the data side, it’s all about institutionalizing a data-driven approach at FCT. This entails turning data from a raw asset into actionable insights that enhance how we make decisions, build product, and serve our customers. My role includes oversight around data governance, data management, our business intelligence infrastructure, data analytics and data science teams, and our nascent data business.
