As an Equipment Design Engineer with a background in the aerospace industry, I am passionate about advancing technology and innovation in aircraft manufacturing. At Joby Aviation, I specialized in designing and building tooling and full-scale equipment to support R&D and manufacturing processes. My role involved managing vendors, collaborating with design engineers, and leading projects that drove efficiency and precision in production.One of my most rewarding experiences was leading a team to design, build, and configure critical test equipment for the manufacturing of aircraft actuators. This project not only facilitated the transfer of validation testing to the manufacturing team, but also allowed the test team to focus on ensuring aircraft conformance. Additionally, I designed and assisted in validating a multi-equipment workstation that significantly increased throughput on the EPU manufacturing line.I am proficient in using SolidWorks for design and development and have developed skills in navigating the Catia and 3DExperience workspaces to access CAD data. My hands-on experience with assembling machined parts and making on-the-fly modifications has enhanced my practical skills and problem-solving abilities.I thrive in dynamic environments where innovation and collaboration are key. I am always eager to learn about new technologies and methodologies to improve processes and deliver high-quality results. My goal is to continue contributing to the aerospace industry's growth and success by leveraging my expertise and passion for engineering.In my spare time, I continue to improve upon my strong knowledge of programs such as Autodesk Fusion 360, SolidWorks, and MATLAB through the creation of DIY woodworking and small electronic projects. I am also very experienced in working with multiple types of hand tools, power tools, and machine shop equipment. To showcase some of these projects, I maintain a small YouTube and Instagram blog called DIY With Ry. Overall, I believe my skills and knowledge would be a strong asset to any company looking for mechanical engineering and design employees.
