The project is associated with the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab).- Detected alpha particles using an open capacitor; if there was a voltage change in the output of the capacitor, we knew an alpha particle had passed through.- Visualized voltage changes by observing signals that were sent through two amplifier circuits.- Tested the circuits by sending waveform signals from a function generator into oscilloscopes.- Built circuits and simulated them with LTSpice (visualization tool).- The research has the potential to reduce the cost of an alpha particle detector from 100s of thousands of dollars to only 100s of dollars.Senior Design Project- Led a team of two people.
