My role was to facilitate and enable the success of a group of senior IBM executives, focusing on defining and building execution plans for IBM strategy. The goal of the team was to provide recommendations by building a plan to ultimately drive the corporation towards long-term and dramatic growth in one of IBM's strategic growth areas. As a consultant to this team, I provided project and operations management, synthesis and analysis, and prepared content to assist the executive team in achieving it's goals. Collaborating directly with the senior executives across multiple brands and functions, I prepared briefing materials and drafted presentations and reports which were critical to the decision process and the formation of recommendations that were presented at the most senior levels of the company. Ultimately the recommendations made by the team were accepted and are currently being implemented to drive cross-IBM growth.

I was the Release Manager for the DB2 (Coral) pureScale release. This major new release of DB2 was a strategic deliverable for multiple IBM divisions. In this role I lead the development team from an initial prototype to the final delivery of the GA well ahead of the initial schedule. This was a large and complex product involving hundreds of developers and testers across various IBM products and geographies.I was responsible for the coordination, project management, issue identification and resolution tracking, communication with senior management, and roll-up of overall release status tracking. I coordinated IPD work including Quality Certifications and ensured Software Group and DB2 development processes were properly followed. Focused on risk management and forecasting of future progress to present realistic status to executives. Identified and drove to resolution large release-wide issues. Coordinated work with Product Management, Planning, Development, QA, Service, and other teams to ensure the successful delivery of the Coral release. I defined and kept vision on long-term goals, while focusing on leading resolution of challenging immediate issues.Lead the planning, coordination and contract negotiations of all major deliverables and interlocked strategy with IBM divisions. Worked with cross-unit senior management to resolve challenging political situations to ensure the teams' focus on common long-term goals was maintained. Removed roadblocks to improve efficiencies between DB2 and external teams. Continually fostered an effective and sustainable working relationship between DB2 and other IBM products. Lead the service planning for the Coral release by working with DB2 and other cross-IBM service planners. Provided technical briefings to customers and other IBM product teams on the value of pureScale technology.

I held a variety of roles in DB2 development team during this time and developed a broad set of development and leadership skills.I was component lead for the Embedded SQL, Precompiler, and Binder product components where I was responsible for the implementation of new features to bring additional customer value. I drove proof of concepts and implemented features that were critical to the closure of several sales deals for DB2.I was responsible for Level 3 support to resolve critical situations and customer problems for my code areas of responsibility. This involved working with support teams and directly with customers to improve quality and ensure high satisfaction was maintained.Lead the design, implementation, QA strategy and tracking of several development line items that were critical to migration of customers from Oracle to DB2. My ownership and implementation of the Large Identifier Support line item involved coordination of work from 50+ developers and testers.Played a pivotal role on a SWAT team to ease the entire DB2 development and QA organization through an extremely painful migration to a new source code repository. Drove numerous changes to development and QA infrastructure tooling to dramatically improve overall efficiency and improve product quality.As a member of the DB2 RDS development team, owned and assisted others with new development line items to provide additional customer value on time and with high quality.
