•Manages daily operations of all Illumina sequencing systems at GeneDx. Ensures all instruments are running at optimal levels in regards to capacity and data quality.•Manages daily/weekly/ run scheduling and setup of all sequencing systems according to established SOPs for clinical sample sequencing.•Manages sequencing technicians, in particular documenting quality control of sequencers and sequencing data according to CAP regulations. Documents all corrective action or deviations when needed.•Monitors operations and identifies problems with laboratory instruments and act as a liason with Field Service engineers and Technical Support staff.•Establishes standing orders for sequencing reagents so that the sequencing lab is fully operational.•Updates clinical laboratory SOPs and laboratory policies to reflect changes in sequencing workflows or reagents.•General tasks include coordinating of daily tech schedules, weekend scheduling, troubleshooting bottlenecks that could lead to disruption and output of clinical sequencing.
