Machine Shop Assistant
I help with ensuring a clear, clean, and safe environment for other engineering students utilizing the machine shop. Also, I help with assisting and training others on lathes and mills in the shop. Another responsibility of mine is to manage, clean, and properly utilize the 3D printers in the shop.
Energy Analyst
Test Lab Intern
Engineering Intern
Team Captain
In this position, I organized and held meetings for our team, as well as another team that I helped form. I delegated tasks to help ensure the robot would be ready for competition, helped teach about different robot parts, and different skills such as soldering and using machinery. I also helped schedule outreach events, in which we would go out into the community with a robot and spread STEM/STEAM in fun ways, with different activities. Another responsibility of mine was to oversee all safety aspects of the team and work with a Safety Captain to help schedule safety meeting, demonstrations, and trainings.
Programmer
When I first started programming for the team, I was a freshman. I was tasked with evaluating new -programming environments/languages and testing them to decide what software to use. I was then tasked with re-writing all of the robots code for competition use. This involved writing programs for autonomous actions and for teleoperated control. After my first few months I was promoted to Head of Programming, a position I would hold until I left the team. In this position I worked with Java, C, and LabVIEW for programming the robot and other microcontrollers. I also helped teach 2 mentors and various teammates how to program and control the robot. I even went as far as to write technical documents breaking down the steps for anyone on my team to write a basic program, deploy it, and run it. I did this on my own time with some help from one of my mentors. It was also in this position that I earned my certifications from NI, the company behind LabVIEW and some key components for our robot, such as the roboRIO.
Technical Lead
As Technical Lead I was responsible for running all software/systems test on the Robot. I was also tasked with instructing and delegating jobs to the pit team in between matches to address issues from previous matches.
Intern
While in this position, I worked on drawings/prints in Autodesk AutoCAD LT. At one point, with another intern, we created a file with all the details for common parts and made a spreadsheet for each location to help streamline drawings for customers. I also helped with recreating the company logo in AutoCAD LT to be place on the company prints.
