When I used to think about what I wanted to be when I was older, I never considered a path in Software Engineering. Growing up in a small town in rural Australia, I didn’t even know the job existed. At school, I was always drawn to the problem solving aspects of mathematics and physics but still loved the creative side of design. It wasn’t until my first year at university when I took a programming elective, that it all clicked and my future was set.Now that I am “older”, I get to work on some of the world’s most complex problems and express creativity in my approach to solving them - a perfect harmony with the aspirations of my younger self.The unique thing I love about software is its breadth across industries. I’m fortunate enough that my career has exposed me to both the retail and finance industries, and taken me across international borders where I currently reside in the United States. Across that time I’ve gained expertise in:- API Development- Distributed Systems Development- Cloud Engineering- Web DevelopmentI’m always learning from the many talented engineers I cross paths with along my journey.
