Course Description:Engineering Design Communication and Graphics theory applied to manufactured products.Course Objectives:- Visualize, communicate, and document 3-D geometries using SolidWorks software (representing engineered products) through orthographic multi-views and isometric pictorials using manual sketching and computer aided graphics- Articulate the role of graphics in the design and development of engineered products- Identify and describe the engineering stages in design and development of manufactured products- Create multi-view dimensioned documentation of geometric objects- Apply dimensional tolerances reflective of acceptable manufacturing variations in part geometry- Select the best scale to use within a given type of units when creating a drawing of any object size- Understand how engineering coordinate systems are used to locate geometric elements in space- Utilize a parametric modeler to capture design intent- Create and manage parts, assemblies and drawings within a CAD software package- Course work includes reverse engineering a consumer product assembly and creating a complete working set of drawings.

- Mechanical/Automation engineering for designing and creating new manufacturing equipment and processes for fabrication, testing, inspecting, and assembly of SLIVER photovoltaic technology.- Primary project goal to reduce capital spending of primary mechanical assembly tool by 50%.
