The focus of my career has been educational leadership, as an Industry Professor, Education Director (formerly in Hong Kong and in New South Wales); a School Development Officer; and secondary school Principal. My recent focus has been on research and writing on leadership, developing school transformation programs based on improvement science and initial teacher education. Some particular interests:* constructing new understandings of leadership* applying systems thinking to schools* designing school change programs;* initial teacher education;* leading curriculum development;* the establishment of virtual learning communities (eg the Orange area e2 program and xsel virtual selective school);* collaborative management across schools; * learning communities; * the development of conceptual frameworks to support educational practice;* project management (eg leading the State response to a raised school leaving age);* strategic planning and evaluation;* fostering innovative practice;* system-wide change management;* the provision of quality professional learning.
