At Kleiner Perkins, I focus on venture-stage companies and serve as advisor to the Chair, John Doerr. Together we invest in bold founders and disruptive technologies.I am an investor in ASAPP, Grammarly, Mos, Natalist, SpinLaunch, Tia, Tempus, Trialspark, and Visby. I also work with companies and brands: Biossance, Bloom Energy, Coursera, Fin, Nuna, and Remind.Formerly, I was the Deputy Chief Technology Officer of the United States. At the White House, our team spent our days and nights ensuring America is the best place for engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators. We helped shape how an $80 billion IT budget can be used by federal agencies to deliver on their missions in a more effective, design-centric, and data-driven way. We launched the U.S. Digital Service, implemented the Open Data Executive Order and re-launched Data.gov which now has over 180,000 datasets. In 2015, I served as a delegate to the United Nations, where we launched the Solutions Summit, a grassroots effort to lift-up and progress the work of exceptional innovators around the world tackling the Sustainable Development Goals. In 2014, during the Ebola epidemic, I led a team that coordinated data requests between governments, international aid organizations, the private sector, and volunteers supporting the response in West Africa. In 2013, I was part the crisis response team that rescued HealthCare.gov. This was a multi-month effort that ultimately enrolled millions of people into affordable health coverage. Before public service, I co-founded Pipette, a healthcare startup focused on reducing the number of complications and unplanned readmissions after surgeries. On March 2012, Pipette was acquired by Ginger.io, an MIT Media Lab spinoff that uses big data and machine learning to improve the world's health.I've previously worked in product roles at Microsoft and Salesforce.com. At Microsoft, I filed multiple patents for innovations in geolocation, user interfaces, and large datasets.
