Crucible Pictures was a a full-service independent production company which, in addition to developing original content for film and television, provided guidance, Post-Production support, and access to finishing funds for first-time and established independent content creators worldwide. The concept of the crucible – a vessel in which substances are heated and changed to become something different and vastly more valuable – was at the core of our philosophy. Our three key goals were:• To create and develop new stories.• To educate and entertain through visual storytelling.• To develop new and leverage existent artistic technologies.Crucible was based in Toronto, Canada, and had administrative offices in New York and Nevada.My role at Crucible was to develop original content for the studio, as well as oversee the production of all submitted projects selected for development. I was an Executive Producer on all projects accepted for production by the studio, and I produced and directed selected projects developed internally or externally as the need arose. In addition, I oversaw the technological development of our Post Production facilities in Toronto.

Sentinel Finance matched qualified investors with unique opportunities in the emergent technology and entertainment verticals. Our goal was to consistently deliver a strong and expedient ROI to our investor group, while simultaneously ensuring that the end-goals of our start-up business owners and content creators were supported and met. While each case was different, Sentinel Finance generally represented investment opportunities with a time-to-market of 24 months or less, and maturity of not more than 5 years.For start-up businesses and content creators we provided:* Packaging, registration, patenting (if applicable), and licensing of novel Intellectual Property in International jurisdictions with strong IP protection legislation; * Guidance and corporate governance; and* Connectivity to capital resources and partnership opportunities.For capital investors/investor groups we provided:* Accurate and timely reporting structures;* Tax minimization opportunities;* Private banking (Barclays Wealth Management Services);* Royalty routing mechanisms; and * Trust creation and administration.Sentinel Finance was located in the British Virgin Islands.As a Partner at Sentinel Finance, my mandate was to connect capital resources allocated to me with lucrative opportunities in web-based technology start-ups and/or ownership in film and television properties then in development. I assessed each new submitted opportunity for potential ROI, and if accepted for representation by Sentinel Finance, assisted in the creation and protection of the IP package prior to submission to the investors/investor groups we represented. My specialties included multi-jurisdictional corporate structures, tax minimization strategies, and royalty routing systems.

Global Data in Motion Limited (“GDIM”) was the manufacturer and distributor of the Secure-a-File™ suite of secure web-based electronic file delivery products. Originally conceived as a complement to email and a replacement for traditional letter-based courier, Secure-a-File™ evolved into a full suite of products which provided trackable secure file delivery to individuals and businesses worldwide.The suite was comprised of Secure-a-File™ (our P2P, or “Person To Person” product), Secure-a-File B2B™ (a product for secure web-based or FTP file transfers between two or more companies), and Secure-a-File DR™ (our secure online collaborative workspace, or “Deal Room” product). The company utilized the strongest encryption commercially available at the time - 4096bit - to secure all client files.In my time with GDIM, I held a variety of executive positions, including CAO, CEO, Chief Architect, and, briefly, Chairman. In my role of Chief Architect, I oversaw the design, architecture, and coding of all User Interface (UI) components, as well as the end-to-end workflow of all software products built by GDIM. On a quarterly basis, I worked closely with GDIM’s CTO, who was also the company’s Senior Software Architect; together we were responsible for the sum total technological vision of the company. The CTO and myself were responsible for the invention of all technology systems under patent, and I was responsible for the invention of all business methods under patent.While remaining an equity partner, I retired from active work at GDIM to take the position of President of Production with Crucible Pictures.

Blue Circle Software was a developer of advanced web technologies. We maintained a core staff of senior programmers and developers, and created web-based software systems for 10 years. Our advanced Neuro Trauma product was used to save lives in hospitals in the United States and Europe, and served the needs of the state Departments of Health in New York, Kentucky, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Our key specialities included:• .NET infrastructure and architectures• Advanced User Interface (UI) design• Intuitive database structuresBlue Circle Software was a coveted resource for many North American companies, some of the largest banks and law firms in the world, and entities in the United States Defense and Intelligence communities. Blue Circle Software also provided elite technological staffing services to select clients worldwide.Blue Circle Software was a small development shop, and as such my role as CEO was more ‘hands-on’ than would be the norm at a larger software development company. I liaised with clients to ensure that their individual business needs were accurately captured and documented, negotiated all development and service agreements, and oversaw all software production, testing, delivery, and client acceptance. Where required, I designed, architected, and coded all front-end elements, coordinated the creation of custom graphics and design resources, and was the company’s resident Adobe Creative Suite expert.I retired from actively leading the company in March 2011.

Blue Circle Pictures was a boutique studio which specialized in feature film development, broadcast television production - such as series development, commercials, and music videos – as well as internal and external corporate and industrial informational aids. From the early developmental stages through post-production, Blue Circle Pictures brought projects to the screen in a timely and professional manner, ensuring that clients had the opportunity for constant input and direction. Any project that was brought to our table was without exception completed using superior methodologies, and was delivered both on time and on budget. With then-cutting-edge technology and the newest innovations that the industry had to offer, Blue Circle Pictures provided a seemingly endless array of choices to its clientele.I was responsible for the creative elements of the business, as well as managing the relationships with financiers and content creators, working closely with my Co-Chair, who was the Director of Business Development. During my time with Blue Circle Pictures, I forged a number of alliances with new equity partners, developed some exciting new technologies still used in professional filmmaking today, and was a pioneer in leveraging advanced computer technologies to support the digital post-production workflow.

Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt hired Blue Circle Software on occasion to oversee Firm-wide hardware replacement initiatives, perform Asset Management analyses, and to advise on sensitive issues related and unrelated to Enterprise Technology and Best Practices. Depending on the requirements, the resources could be limited to myself, or a significant chunk of the Blue Circle Software staff (as was the case with the deployment of Firm-wide hardware in 2007). I was able to leverage key relationships within the global academic technology community to assist in pro-bono validation of hardware submitted for evaluation by HP, Lenovo, Dell, Toshiba, and Acer. This value-added service allowed the Firm to take a much stronger position when negotiating the purchase of the hardware and long-term service agreements.
