In this position I create detailed reports for the Oilers summarizing each period and distribute it via mailing lists to 70-100 credentialed NHL media members. The reports entail stats that I find myself, basic stats from the NHL website, news headlines, and quotes from interviews that I go into the locker rooms post game and record myself. In this role, I have also helped in press conferences with mic holding, as well as general help for media while they're in the press box.

This unpaid position is for experience at the next level. I do it in spots throughout the year and it has taught me a professional outlook on how to do colour commentary. In this part-time position, I am able to see before and after the game just how much prep goes into creating an engaging broadcast. I have learned interview skills, research skills, and the ability to thrive with commentary in a high pace environment.

In the role of bartender, it is crucial to be able to talk to people regularly and keep a conversation going; this leads to exceptional people skills. I also have to deal with the difficult people daily and am able to compromise with them and they leave satisfied.
