Supervised operation, maintenance, testing, and repair of the nuclear power plant and weapons systems.-Planned the transition from shipyard to at-sea operations, enabling the USS Helena to become the first submarine in ten years to complete an overhaul on time and under budget, saving more than $10M. -Analyzed weapon system maintenance and recommended improvements which were implemented across the entire U.S. Naval submarine fleet, work that was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal.-Designed and implemented proficiency assessment program to develop at-sea skills, quadrupling the number of personnel certified to perform those actions.-Key to ensuring complex engineering overhaul was ahead of schedule and was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal for excellent managerial ability, personal initiative, and unswerving devotion to duty.-Handpicked to lead the Chemistry/ Radiological Controls Division in response to scrutiny of nuclear practices. Immediately increased productivity by over 50% through development of a robust radiation tracking program.-Led the Diver Division to an Excellent assessment by the Navy Diving Audit Team, a feat not achieved by any submarine diving program in over three years.
