With a strong background in most areas of marketing and advertising. Starting in 2000 Rutledge Corn Maze is how I cut my teeth in the business world and where I really got to turn ideas into physical reality in the form of a corn field. With a budget and under self-management, each year I planned, organized and executed unique marketing campaigns, made many strategic community partnerships, and attracted and managed quality vendors. I love spreadsheets and data tracking. Most years, I conducted an annual survey that produced thousands of results and upon compiling them I was able to learn more about the maze customers and shift marketing activities/plans accordingly. My last year at the maze, it was recognized as a top 12 maze in the America by Endless Vacation Magazine. It was an honor to serve my family and help establish the business as a leader in the corn maze and agri-tourism industry. The corn maze is seasonal - thus I have often had two jobs at the same time. I was fortunate to work at the Thurston Chamber of Commerce where I learned the art of business in Thurston County. In 2008 I entered the online world by launching and selling a website and business directory called LocalBusinessConnections.com. In 2012 I was fortunate to work with ThurstonTalk.com starting when they had about two-thousand Facebook followers and leaving when they were at about thirty-five-thousand. There I got to really learn about content creation and distribution At my last employer before starting Olympia Marketing Company I worked at an energy efficiency company called Smart Energy Today, I was the online marketing manager. My duties included managing multiple websites, SEO/SEM Optimization, Google Adwords & Analytics management, creating documents and forms, presentations, and using SalesForce to manage multiple campaigns.

As with any small business there aren't many resources to work with. I was in charge of all things marketing. A new and emerging industry, there was little known about marketing a corn maze back then. I got to create, try new things, make mistakes and in the end be successful. Duties:•Created and executed annual marketing and communications plan that required researching, negotiating and managing team of vendors to conduct direct mail, web, media outreach, tv, radio, bus side, billboard and other advertising and other marketing services.•Created unique sponsorship model that resulted in cash from sponsors and in-kind media placement exceeding $50K annually and a cause marketing partnership with the Seattle Seahawks.•Managed media outreach efforts resulting in highly visible and unpaid radio, print and television exposure. Acted as company representative for television, radio and print media requests.•Utilized feedback form, compiled 1000’s of results, reported results then adjusted marketing plan as needed.•Create fun events and activities like the rope maze, paintball in the maze, scavenger hunts and more.

A new position was created for me at Smart Energy Today. The pressing need - online reputation management for a fast growing company. This involved working with multiple departments. I planned and implemented a review generation process to get positive reviews review sites such as Yelp and AngiesList. Duties:•Managed launch and day to day changes to multiple websites through WordPress.•Researched, learned, and utilized online software/platforms SalesForce, InfusionSoft, and LeadPages as part of Facebook and email marketing campaign to generate event attendance.•Used Google Analytics to monitor website and click thru’s from link building and other efforts. Also, to identify trends and for analysis in strategies to improve website visits.•Brainstormed, researched, wrote and distributed articles or blogs on company products, customer reviews, and other company news. •Generated positive reviews thru owned media placing the company high in rankings on various review sites including Yelp, AngiesList, Better Business Bureau, Facebook, Google+, etc.•Undertook and successfully worked with internal stakeholders to utilize web technologies to streamline human resource and sales activities. •Conducted online campaign promoting 16 events in 8 different cities each week resulting in single transactions as high as $22K.•Set up and managed social media and other online accounts.

At ThurstonTalk, I was part of a team that built a Facebook page from 2,000 to 26,000 plus followers and drove website views to around 300,000 each month. Here I learned about content creation and distribution. I truly learned what drives SEO. I learned how the basic social media platforms work, interconnect, and appropriate strategies for each. Duties:•Set up and delivered social media education/strategy presentations and classes to non profits, government, and business organizations throughout Thurston County. Additionally, represented ThurstonTalk at Tradeshows, Rotary, Chamber, and other professional organizations and events throughout the community. •Consulted and assisted customers in content creation, process, and implementation through owned and un-owned marketing and online media channels.•Sold integrated branding platform and solution that included content creation and distribution through Facebook, Twitter and company website.

At the end of 2012 I was asked to help a well known farm in Yelm add additional lines of revenue to the business. This included soliciting and successfully negotiating a lease with the Yelm Farmers Market. Lobbying government, creating a sponsorship and marketing package for a large financial institution. A heavy amount of research, analysis and contract negotiations were necessary to purchase the products and services. I am most proud of the one of a kind partnership with the Yelm Farmers Market. I am proud because the farm is actually located outside of city limits and it is rare if not unheard of that a city farmers market is located on a farm outside of the city.Other duties:•Researched and negotiated with vendors for a wide variety products and services.•Managed public relations including presentations to County Commissioners and speaking as an expert on panel at agri-tourism conference. •Formulated and managed branding process and website launch.•Performed competitive analysis to drive product offerings, pricing and promotion strategy for agri-tourism related products, services and events.•Advised around marketing strategies, service providers and other agri-tourism related information.•Created value based sponsorship package for financial institution for financial literacy marketing campaign.
