About Ryan Seamons

👋 Hi, I'm Ryan. Too many people are miserable with the way work happens. I'm on a mission to change that. I write a weekly newsletter at https://meetgroove.com/patterns about designing delightful work experiences. I founded Groove to help leaders actually do something to improve engagement. Every company runs an engagement survey ... but most don't do much with the results. We help leaders say goodbye to figure-head tiger teams 🐯 and instead make real progress. It all started with an idea to improve the way managers and employees talk to each other 💬. We tore apart a series of engagement surveys and existing products that promise better conversations. Though over 230 user interviews we prototyped and honed a better approach, empowering employees to drive critical engagement conversations. Our products help with 4 foundational engagement conversations: 1. Career Development2. Role Clarity3. Skill Development4. Purpose & AlignmentThe cool thing is that these products are physical. Unlike another HR system to login to, they won't be ignored when they arrive on your employee's doorstep. Beautifully designed, the help us connect with ourselves and others unlike any app ever can.We also work hands on 🙌 with teams who want more in-depth help. Our past experience includes designing exceptional employee experiences at companies like LinkedIn, Bank of America, Unilever, Capital Group, Verizon, and many more.Check us out at meetgroove.com and join our weekly newsletter for leaders who want to design better work experiences.I've spent two decades obsessing about the way work happens. I love waking up every day thinking about how to help us all design better ways to work.

I never expected to lead product for a gaming studio. I was always impressed by AI Dungeon (See our seed fund announcement in Tech Crunch — https://techcrunch.com/2021/02/04/latitude-seed-funding/). But once I learned about what's actually going on at Latitude I was blown away:- AI Dungeon went from college side project to 100k users in a week to 1.5M users in 12 weeks 🤯- Our vision is to create a platform where anyone can build creative experiences made alive with AI 🤖 + 🦸‍♀️- We are running a cultural experiment as a company, investing from the beginning in the practices we know actually make a workplace great (very different from what most gaming companies do) 🧪The combination of 1. a team that needed help turning strategy into execution AND 2. a company that cared deeply about their people practices felt like a perfect fit for me. I decided to put my past entrepreneurial ventures on auto-pilot and jump aboard. It's been a blast so far and the best is yet to come. AI Dungeon was the first experiment. More is coming.Play AI Dungeon and learn more about Latitude at https://latitude.io

  • Linkedin
    Product Manager
    Linkedin May 2012 - Jun 2015
    Sunnyvale, Ca, Us
I changed the way learning happens at LinkedIn. As a member of the first L&D team at LinkedIn, I started and lead the team that built LearnIn (an informal learning platform which 73% of employees were using by the time I left). It was the beginning of what today is LinkedIn Learning.I also quarterbacked the complete rebuild of our intranet, Cinco.LearnInI founded our internal learning platform, LearnIn, which 73% of LinkedIn employees use each month. I created the initial mockups, coded the first version, hired our developers and designer, and managed the roadmap to build out features including search, related assets, new hire roadmap (ramping new employees), and transformation plan (a personalized development plan tool). Our vision was to have learning be self-driven, personalized, and social. I facilitated team sprints, groomed the product backlog, pair programmed with developers, tracked metrics, did user and market research, provided customer support, and coached our team.CincoBuilding Cinco involved more than 40 people across 6 teams — three dev teams, content, design, and change management. Our goal was to make our intranet a daily destination for our employees. I managed the backlog, worked with developers, ran team and executive meetings, and worked through getting 4 executive stakeholders to agree on the roadmap and resourcing. Cinco launched shortly after I left LinkedIn.

Raised $3.6 million through 30,000+ yearly donations by leading 85 studentsReduced employee turnover 30% by creating engaging work environment, developing motivational training curriculum, and revamping incentive programIncreased historically stagnant efficiency 50% (raised donor conversion from 29% to 46%) by developing better calling algorithms, targeted goal initiatives, new training program, and onboarding process Increased employee engagement survey to 90% score (4.5/5 average) by coaching student management team of 14 peopleDesigned and launched email campaigns (both internal and external) and website (telefund.byu.edu)Directing the Telefund gave me experience executing to get results. You don't usually think of call centers as having motivated employees and a rich culture - but I was able to create that. Innovative hiring, delivering results on-time and under-budget, and using technology to enhance our work are just a few of the actions I took to improve on an already established call center. A large list of those wanting to apply and callers staying with a part-time job through years of school were both validation of the great environment we build.
