As a Customer Service Representative working in the CYBG Financial Care Team, my duties were largely focused upon providing not only excellent customer service but also empathising with customers to ensure they were happy and left with suitable and affordable solutions. The role largely involved communicating with customers over the telephone, ensuring I took a measured and adaptable approach to each call due to the diversity of customers and their situation, some of whom may be have been more vulnerable and therefore required a delicate approach. Through this role, I also gained essential experience in both working independently, but also as part of a large and diverse team in an office environment – requiring me to communicate with different departments when necessary. Due to the nature of the role, my organisational skills also largely were improved as each day I would possess daily tasks which I had to ensure were completed, whilst keeping my ready time on the phone high to prevent customers from waiting too long. Overall, the role allowed me to fully utilise my customer service skills and further improve my communication skills across both email, face-to-face and telephone, ensuring my communication was empathetic

Working as part of ASK Italian as a Front of House member, I was required to work in a high-paced environment and fully utilise my service, organisational and prioritisation skills. Not only was I required to work with a team, I was required to work independently; often balancing my duties with what needed to be prioritised first – whether that be cleaning the bar, running food to tables or seating customers. My duties largely involved interacting and welcoming customers, providing exceptional service, balancing my priorities to ensure nothing was neglected, being flexible in my duties dependant upon the businesses need, till training, handling cash and also assisting managers and colleagues in the cleanup and closing of the restaurant. Overall, the role further built upon my customer service skills and provided me with the necessary experience of working in a high-paced environment, in which I would face the challenge of ensuring everything was done to high-standard whilst balancing and preparing a multitude of tasks.

Whilst working as a Customer Assistant in River Island, as it was my first job it was the initial development of a large amount of my skills. My main duties involving that I would provide both exceptional customer service, whilst also maintaining the high-standards of appearance and displays, ensuring the store was presentable and clothes fully stocked. I was trained both on tills, but also in handling cash, processing returns, answering customer queries and occasionally assisting in the setup of promotional events for the store. The role provided me with a keen awareness of the retail environment, but also largely on the important of providing customer service whilst maintaining a determined and dedicated work-ethic. I was provided with the opportunity to assist customers and it is a role which assisted in the establishment of my service skills which have since been improved upon with my other work experiences.
