As a director and principal designer, my time is spent between design management and individual contribution. I lead a team, coach and manage people, direct large scale projects (including Salesforce1 with over 1M MAU), and present to executive leadership including the founder and co-founder. It was essential to collaborate with executive stakeholders, and present work in large forums. SafetyWeb was a leader in cloud-based online safety. The subscription-based service made it easier to protect the reputation, privacy, and safety of kids online. SafetyWeb was acquired by Experian in 2011 and made part of the ProtectMyID product offering.As the lead designer for this startup, I was a key member of the product and engineering teams. I lead a small design team who was responsible for crafting the user experiences of the customer facing web and mobile (iOS and Android) applications. I managed the output over two week sprint cycles, and owned the direction for all design related work. More than 20 million users used the product each month.As a senior designer, I navigated the challenges of working remotely with a distributed product and engineering team. I designed the web application, iPhone, and Facebook applications. Likewise, I crafted and implemented a vision for an immersive family tree builder, and family tree file backup service. HiveLive, Inc. delivered an enterprise social software platform that integrated social networks with information networks for business-focused communities. The modular, brand-able platform solution supported a wide range of community activities such as product self help, feedback, voting centers, and more. HiveLive was acquired by RightNow Technologies in 2009.As the sole UX designer, I was embedded on the engineering team and split my time between delivering interaction and visual designs for incremental feature improvements, and setting the vision for a new community builder admin GUI. ProtectMyPhotos was an automated digital photo backup service that secured deals with ArcSoft, the number one distributor of photo software packaged with digital cameras and Best Buy, the number one retailer of digital cameras worldwide.As the sole front-end developer and designer for this startup, I was responsible for crafting the user experience from end-to-end. It was essential to wear many hats and in the process, I became comfortable with all the aspects of what it takes to bring an idea to market.• Leveraged client side technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX and JSON to create a sophisticated web-based file browser, mobile file browser, and corporate web site.• Developed the visual design for Windows application GUI, web site, print advertisements, retail packaging and displays, and company collateral materials.• Developed the service's branding and visual identity.• Worked with development team to transition the service to support 13 languages.• Created and maintained installers for the Windows application.• Helped to draft the service's privacy policy and terms of use.
