I served as a Pharmacy Technician at Raffles Specialist Holland Village. I was employed as a full-time staff on a contract basis for a staff who was due for maternity leave prior to my National Service. I served the following specialist clinics at Holland Village: Raffles Skin & Aesthetics, Raffles Juniors, and Raffles Women's Centre.My role as a Pharmacy Technician involves checking prescriptions, packing medications, dispensing medications and inventory management of medications. I would also assist in registering a patient and helping to take the necessary parameters such as temperature, blood pressure, height and weight. The bulk of my responsibility lies in counselling patients on the right use of medication and how to use the medications/ medical devices correctly. It was also my duty to ensure that there is healthy inventory levels in the pharmacy and to update the doctors on the supply/replacement of medications. I would also assist in applying for new medications as requested by the doctors.

My role as a pharmacy technician intern involves picking and packing of medications in accordance with the SOP of the pharmacy, performing interventions, phone operation duties for the Medication Delivery Service and dispensing of short queue medications under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician.During my time at SGH, I completed 5 rotations; Discharge Pharmacy, In-patient Drug Management, Specialist Outpatient Clinic Pharmacy, Bowyer Block Pharmacy and Retail Pharmacy.

My role as a pharmacy technician intern involves answering patient queries on medications and assisting the pharmacist in dispensing medications. I was also involved in answering customers queries and recommending customers on the relevant products present in the store. This includes queries on over-the-counter medications and health supplements. I would assist in stock management such as topping up empty shelves and packing the stocks neatly into the store. Cashiering duties were also performed to assist customers during their payment.
