About Ryan Stidham
As an Associate Professor of Computational Medicine and Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan, I have been leading innovative and interdisciplinary research projects for more than six years, applying data science and machine learning to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). I also have over 10 years of clinical experience as a gastroenterologist, providing specialized care for patients with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and immune enteropathies. My research program aims to develop precise and reliable disease measurements and endpoints using medical imaging, endoscopic video, and text data, leveraging computer vision, natural language processing, and state-of-the-art data science techniques. I have successfully obtained funding, published papers, and conducted clinical trials for several novel technologies that can replicate expert judgement, generate new biomarkers, and harmonize clinical and multiomic data sources. I have also trained and mentored students, fellows, and faculty in both computational and clinical domains, fostering a collaborative and productive environment. My mission is to create new foundational methodologies for healthcare space that can solve conventionally challenging problems in gastroenterology and medicine at large.
