A few years back I learned how its shaped who I am and the work I've chosen throughout my career. As humans, we're social animals and naturally wired to help each other. When we do, our body releases what's called the "Happiness Trifecta", a chemical mix of serotonin, oxytocin and dopamine which provides a positive boost to our mood. I like positive boosts to my mood. A lot. Professionally, I've always gotten tremendous satisfaction from helping others solve their problems. I’ve been blessed to do that in a few industries but for some reason healthcare – and more specifically the delivery of it via employee benefits keeps pulling me back in. Some might shy away given all the issues that plague healthcare in our country but the eternal optimist in me says it's a great fit for someone who likes solving problems! One of the biggest challenges with healthcare is its complexity and lack of transparency. It’s frustrating for patients and creates a ton of financial waste. Currently, I work with companies to put strategies in place to make sense of the non-sense so their members can more easily find high-quality healthcare at an reasonable price. It reduces healthcare spend and drives better clinical outcomes. It creates a rare “win/win” dichotomy for organizations and their people. Oh, and it gives me a big jolt of that "happiness trifecta" along the way. When I'm not working to fix healthcare one transaction at a time, I’m usually outdoors spending time with my two rescue pups Ruby & Rosie. In addition to being a dog dad, I'm hugely into craft beer, an avid cyclist & golfer and supporter of a number of philanthropic causes including ALS research, Type 1 Diabetes and growing the game of golf among youths. I’ve occasionally been known to ride my bike in upwards of 300 miles for charity.
