- Spearhead the migration to AWS. Architect and construct the first major AWS systems for stock and derivatives traders and quants. This enabled a migration of resources from Azure and major systems from on-prem to the cloud. Design, set standards, execute and educate.- Drive deliveries of core infrastructure both as an independent engineer and as a leader on projects with other engineers.- Lead the development and maturation of Kubernetes (EKS) clusters.- Design all AWS IAM Roles and Policies for multi-tenant AWS accounts, and implement these as Infrastructure as Code (IaC).- Establish Terraform as the IaC (Infrastructure as Code) standard for all construction, construct modules for broad use, and educate peers.- Build and own the Hashicorp Vault cluster, a secrets management system. Educate developers and quants about options for use including Kubernetes pod annotations, code libraries with AppRoles, and CI integrations.- Coordinate operations with various teams including trading operations, technical leadership, on-prem networking, on-prem hardware, DBAs, security, billing and others. Educate and generate documentation as appropriate. - Provide support for developers, quants, traders and other infrastructure teams. Resolve issues, educate and document solutions.

We work at scale.- My team is holding billions of data records and petabytes of data objects.- Instance clusters on both GCP and AWS scale dynamically and we're usually running between 200 and 300 instances. Our systems are hit millions of times a day by other teams and clients. - Developers deploy 170+ applications of Kubernetes services via ArgoCD.- Certain Argo workflows generate 10+ thousand Kubernetes pods when triggered. Example work/responsibilities:- Creation and management of Google Cloud Platform projects with Terraform, GKE, ArgoCD, Cert Manager, Cloud DNS, Harbor, ELK, Filebeat, Prometheus, GCS, VPCs, firewalling, IAM management, custom Kubernetes controllers, KMS, Pinniped, GKE Config Connector, Workload Identities, IAP, Cloud Routers, Big Query, Cloud SQL and other systems.- Synchronizing GKE clusters with parallel Kops clusters on AWS. GKE clusters are recognized as Identity Providers on AWS and GKE pods bear appropriate AWS IAM roles, allowing them to make calls to AWS securely and with clear telemetry. Elastic Search and Grafana are run primarily on AWS, which extracts data from Prometheus on GKE via a proxy.- Managing key git merges in conjunction with other teams to ensure functionality, system integrity, and compliance with data security and data regulation standards.- Designing, implementing and managing DevSecOps systems via the systems and processes noted above.- Standardizing inconsistent resources on AWS with Terraform.- Regularly write in Python, Go, and Bash

- Regular use of these technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Terraform, Packer, git, Artifactory, CentOS (Linux), Salt, PostgreSQL, microservices- Creation and management of these clusters: Kubernetes, Pulsar (akin to Kafka), Alluxio (abstracts HDFS and other data storage systems), Flink (akin to Spark), Presto (SQL-like platform for distributed data stores like HDFS), Zookeeper- Complete ownership of multiple Google Cloud Platform projects, with regular use of these technologies: GCE (VMs), GKE (Kubernetes), Storage Buckets, GCR (Docker Container Registry), Cloud DNS, Peered VPCs, Firewalling, IAM management- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Let's Encrypt, MailGun, Sendgrid, github, Bitbucket, Conda- Software development with Python- Scripting in Bash and Groovy
