As the Director of Network Engineering I am responsible for providing vision for the future of all network related systems. I oversee a team of talented networking professionals that support and deploy a robust and forward thinking network infrastructure. This infrastructure takes advantage of all the latest technologies such as SDWAN, SASE, VXLAN, and NextGen Firewall and threat prevention. This network insures the smooth operation of Roseburg's fast growing wood products company.

As the Network Engineering Manager I am responsible for insuring that all network services function at the highest levels. I oversee a team of talented networking professionals that support and deploy a robust and forward thinking network infrastructure. This infrastructure takes advantage of all the latest technologies such as SDWAN, SDA, ACI, and NextGen Firewall and threat prevention. This network insures the smooth operation of Roseburg's fast growing wood products company.

As the Network Engineering Supervisor I am tasked with Design, Implementation, and day to day management of the Corporate Data Networking Infrastructure. The network is designed to take advantage of all of the latest architectures including projects to deploy ACI, SDA, and many other emerging network architectures. My duties also includes managing a team of network engineers to complete the various networking projects at Roseburg. I manage the projects that each engineer works on and I track the deliverable of those projects. I am also involved in the professional development of each engineer. I identify skill needs, plan training and conduct mentoring sessions to help improve the performance of the team

My responsibilities are to design, implement, and maintain voice and data networking for all Roseburg Forest Products office locations. This includes configuration and maintenance of Cisco and Juniper network switches and routers, Avaya Telecommunications equipment, and a variate of Dell server and EMC storage solutions. The Roseburg Forest Products network includes 2 data center facilities and approximately 12 major and 3 minor remote locations. Each site is connected to a MPLS network with the 2 data centers operating as redundant hub locations. At the main data center I help maintain several Juniper SSG 550 firewalls as well as a Juniper MAG 2600 SSL VPN appliance. The data center core network runs on a Cisco Nexus 7009 with several Nexus 2k top of rack switches and the MPLS core routers are ASR 1001's.

My primary responsibilities are to provide day-to-day support to DHS staff in the maintenance, repair and use of personal computers and information systems. This includes support for local area networks, servers, wide area network infrastructure, and common and standardized software. IT business processes that are adhered to in performing day-to-day support includes incident management, change management, asset management, configuration management and other applicable IT service management functions.I also provide technical assistance to users regarding improving day to day operations. This includes creating new business processes utilizing the technology currently on the network as well as recommending new technology purchases. This also includes creating spreadsheets and databases that help simplify data entry and reporting.

My responsibilities included setting up and maintaining a hosted VOIP service using both Asterisk and Broadsoft as application servers. This included programming Lucent LCS 5010 class 5 soft switches to integrate with these hosted VOIP services. Part of this deployment also included the installation and configuration of an Audiocodes nCite 1000 SBC to serve as a primary VOIP gateway for customer PBX’s and IP phones.My duties also included extensive work deploying and configuring Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls in an ISP environment. This entailed setting up switch ports, VLANS, and IP routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF to link ISP equipment and customers to our upstream provides. This also included setting up and maintaining end to end QoS for all data connection using our host VOIP services. I was also part of the team charged with migrating from an older Cisco based network to a new MPLS core network running on the Alcatel Lucent service router platform. I deployed and configure Alcatel 7750 and 7705 service routers as well as the 7210 service switches. During this upgrade I was also charged with replacing all of our DSLAM’s with the Adtran TA5000 multi-service access platform with a combination of E.SHDSL and ADSL2+ access cards.

Responsible for maintaining all aspects of the ISP operation. Maintained ISP web/dns/email servers as well as the internal AD. Install/Configured/Maintained Adtra ADSL DSLAMS, GR-303 Aggregation Units, and TA3000 HDSL Access Equipment. Also maintained/installed Hitachi GPON deployment, Tut Systems IPTV Headend driven by Manerva Networks middleware.

Maintained the internal IT and Network infrastructure for approximately 80 Macintosh and 45 PC workstations. Maintained a combination of 15 Macintosh and 5 Windows servers running a variaty of Pre-press, Editorial and Ad Production applications. Windows servers were running Active Directory/Exchange and the Macintosh servers were running applications such as Newsedit Pro IQue, Panther RIP, and basic file and print sharing. Network consisted of 3 remote locations connected via Cisco PIX firewalls, each site also had a local File server and about 5 to 10 workstations.

Responsible for installation, maintenance, and support of the internal IT infrastructure. This included helping in the migration of a Windows NT 4.0 Domain to a Windows 2000 Active Directory Domain. Also was a member of 3 conversion teams responisble for integrating Bank networks purchased by Umpqua Bank. This not only included the computer domains and internal networking but also included the migration of banking data from one banking platform to another. I also spent about 6 months maintaining an Unisys Mainframe running ITI's Premier II banking platform.
