12 month secondment following internal approach to lead a series of strategic projects in preparation for potential disposal of business unit. Projects included implementation of new ERP system, recruitment of team to create separate standalone finance structure ahead of disposal, review of end to end processes and outputs from existing finance team including collaboration with key operational stakeholders to seek feedback on areas for service delivery improvement to the wider business.

Following the successful closure of our old FND contracts and the set up of the replacement Work Programme contracts, I moved into a FC/Head of Finance role for a newly created business unit within Serco running contracts as diverse as the London Cycle Hire Scheme (“Boris’ Bikes”), providing waste and recycling services in the Derbyshire Dales and supplying contracting labour to the European Space Agency.Such a diverse portfolio of contracts provides varying challenges. My remit was to bring consistency to our reporting, financial controls and planning cycles whilst ensuring that the Leadership team were aware of all material opportunities and risks facing our business. In addition to this my focus was on developing value adding MI to facilitate top/bottom line growth and strategic decision making at the Business Unit level.

Following the national termination of all Flexible New Deal contracts I took on responsibility for closing out the three FND contracts that Serco held. Alongside this I also picked up additional responsibilities for both of Serco's replacement Work Programme contracts in South Yorkshire and West Midlands. In order to further develop and challenge myself I also agreed to take on responsibilities for our Business Processing Centre in Rhyl, our Management Information team and our two National Offender Management contracts in the East of England and South East England.

Fully responsible for the accounting function of Serco’s contract to deliver the DWP’s Flexible New Deal programme in the Greater Manchester region. This was the largest FND contract awarded in the UK and involved a supply chain of over 30 local, regional and national delivery partners.
