Lead EngineerCreative Power Solutions (Usa) Nov 2008 - Apr 2015CFD Modeling and Analysis- Develop CFD models to investigate the aerodynamics and performance of coal furnaces, gas turbine combustors, and other power generation equipment.- Full responsibility of CAD modeling, meshing and CFD model simulations for conceptual development of a novel annular combustor technology. Multiple permutations of the design in a short time were possible due to effective modeling and simulation strategies.- Simulated a GT rotor-air-cooler flow network in FlowMaster fluid simulation software to verify design achieved acceptable air return temperature for range of operating points.- Oversaw and guided the geometry and mesh generation of a single burner model and full furnace model of a heavy fuel oil boiler for power generation that allowed for various design and operational modifications to be simulated.Engineering Design- Conceptual design of a gas turbine hot gas path component: conducted 1-D fluid flow network and 2D heat transfer analyses that quantified the thermal behavior of concepts. Analysis tools enabled team to define multiple designs that could sustain acceptable metal temperatures.- Pilot nozzle pressure test development: designed, analyzed, procured and tested at customer site a mechanical device and rubber seals used to seal a complex pilot fuel nozzle, that enabled pressure testing of the component.- Developed Excel model that calculates required water flow rate at various ambient conditions for a “wet compression” inlet cooling system for gas turbine power augmentation, enabling proper sizing of the water delivery system. - GT exhaust bearing extension cover modification: provided the GT OEM with a modification to their existing design that allows for field service technicians to access vital vibration instrumentation without disassembling the surrounding structures.- GT component development: lead the conceptual and detailed design of device used to mitigate turbine blade chatter during turning gear operation.

Graduate Research AssistantArizona State University Jul 2007 - Feb 2009Tempe, Az, UsResearched the fluid flow and its effects on a butterfly valve, under various configurations, in a dam diversionary pipe utilizing CFD simulations in FLUENT and creating other numerical models. Identified and confirmed a simple solution to mitigate vibration issues. -
Engineer IAdvatech Pacific Feb 2006 - May 2008Phoenix, Az, Us- Supported engineering efforts by creating parametric models and drawings of turbine disks, blades and spur gears for gas turbines- Performed CAD design and generated manufacturing drawings of a gas turbine engine component that prevents the failure of an actuating mechanism joint from damaging surrounding components- Post processed finite element analysis results of aircraft wing structures
