For more than 30 years I have created, built, sold, invested in and consulted many businesses in many industries around the world. My life as an entrepreneur started as a teenager in Colorado when I created an international export business to sell running shoes and sports watches in Northern Europe. This spirit continued into the university where I founded a used bookstore as well as a storage company to solve several key problems that my fellow classmates faced. Upon graduation from the university I co-founded two global print & digital publishing companies, ultimately creating one of the largest print media publications, defined by circulation and reach, in both North America and South America. Fast forward 30 years, and many business experiences in between, I still feel that entrepreneurship is the driving force of the world and I can’t imagine ever working in any other capacity. The reality, however, is that it’s an extremely difficult path - a mine field waiting patiently for the next unsuspecting victim who lets their guard down and takes a single misplaced step. One consistency has remained true with every company I have been involved with, whether successful or not: They have all faced at least one critical breaking point. Some enormous challenge that appears to be insurmountable. While each crisis seems unique to the specific business situation, the ultimate problem facing all young companies has the same root cause: the need to attract and onboard certain critical resources. These are the investors, strategic partners, skilled employees, suppliers, and ultimately clients who together become essential to the achievement of the business’ vision. No business seeking truly disruptive change can do it alone. With an abundancy of key resources in place, the overriding problems, defined by a lack of time, money and expertise disappear. The entrepreneur, their team and their company now have the tools necessary to build and enrich the world with their disruptive vision. This is my competency and driving passion. To identify, attract and on board these key stakeholders by constructing highly integrated communication and digital marketing strategies. The companies that do this successfully are the success stories we read about every day, and the ones that don’t simply disappear into the void.
