I founded a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to help high school students bring their ideas for local activism to life. We started by connecting students to local service opportunities during the COVID-19 crisis through a website matching volunteers to projects using criteria they set like hours and cost. We were able to expand into a summer program and after school program where students could collaborate virtually to target specific issues caused by the pandemic. With continued interest, I worked to incorporate our organization to take on larger projects and involve over 200 total participating students.
