PresidentCore-Net / Coronet Electronique Apr 1981 - Jan 1990Ryk's ownership of Coronet Electronics started with the original owner asking "Hey kid, want to buy the store". Having no experience in retail, administration, marketing, or business, Ryk took the responsible approach to this question and dove in head first. Coronet was one of the few hobby electronic stores in Montréal, and in 1985 Ryk soon transitioned to become one of the first retailers of computers, software, and peripheral products, a move which enabled the company to transition from a virtually bankrupt operation, to $3.5 Million in sales within 4 years. From the moment Ryk took control of Coronet, he found himself on the path of a lifelong education in how to build, and run, a successful technology business. Taking an approach of constantly monitoring market trends and aligning the business to the needs of the client became, the formula which enabled Ryk to not only guide Coronet to success, but was also the most important lesson for Ryk in developing his future businesses.
