My path to restaurant brokerage began when I was assigned to wash dishes and chop gallon after gallon of diced onions in the kitchen of Tassajara Zen Mountain Center; an assignment which launched me on the path to becoming a chef, restaurant owner/operator, and ultimately a restaurant broker. It takes a lot to transfer a restaurant from one owner to the next. It isn’t rocket science and if you’re looking to buy or sell a restaurant you could certainly do it without a broker, but what I’ve learned over the years is one small misstep with the health department, the landlord or the ABC could set the entire transfer back months or kill the deal entirely. A good restaurant broker is very similar to a project manager who helps both buyer and seller navigate the various licensing and permitting agencies required for a successful ownership transfer while keeping everything on track between the two parties and with the escrow company. I’m a constant learner and am genuinely committed to offer the most knowledgeable service to my clients. When I became a restaurant broker I joined the California Association of Business Brokers (CABB) and as soon as I qualified, I sat for the exam and became a Certified Business Broker (CBB). Soon after, I joined the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) and as soon as I qualified, I sat for their grueling exam and became a Certified Business Intermediary (CBI). In 2019, I sat for and secured my Broker’s license with Department of Real Estate which completes the highest level of licensing and certification a business broker can achieve. If you’re interested in learning more about me and/or restaurant brokerage, be sure to visit my website or shoot me a DM and I look forward to working with you.
