I was originally the CIO with a venture startup EquipMD which was acquired by Neoforma in mid-2000. EquipMD provided group-purchasing services to physician offices using the Internet. Neoforma was predominantly focused on hospital procurement and saw EquipMD as a way of accelerating their entry into the physician line of business. Unfortunately, this strategy was never funded as the market decline struck the e-commerce industry shortly after the acquisition.

Radiant Systems provided retail technology to service station, con¬venience store, food service, and entertainment market segments. My primary responsibility was to improve the quality and integrate the back-office products that were separated by different people, processes, geographic locations, and development platforms.

In 1994, Boston Chicken was a high-growth fast-food restaurant company managing 250 stores.
