I was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow in the Systems Biology and Biophysics group of Tobias Bollenbach, working on genome-wide costs and benefits of protein expression in the model organism E. coli.

I was a postdoc in the Systems Biology and Biophysics group of Tobias Bollenbach, working with a high-throughput culturing platform for E. coli investigating how changes in growth rate effects antibiotic efficacy.

I was investigating metabolic engineering principles in cyanobacteria towards direct CO2 based bulk chemical (and biofuel) production via photosynthesis. I was a PhD student in the lab of Klaas Hellingwerf, participating in the (national) Towards BioSolar Cells consortium. Initial exploratory work (2008 to 2010) I carried out in the framework of the Spin-off company PHOTANOL B.V., located at the University of Amsterdam.

I was employing yeast chemical genetics, microarray analysis and mutant isolation to investigate the fungicidal mode of action in S. cerevisiae of a novel compound from a sea cucumber.

During my master internship I was investigating necrotic cell death of neurons and the involvement of autophagy in the model organism C. elegans, using RNA interference and confocal microscopy. I was supported by a Marie Curie Fellowship of the European commission at the lab of Nektarios Tavernarakis.

I was looking into the genetic interactions of a cell death associated protease in the model organism S. cervisiae in the lab of David S. Goldfarb.

Courses at the ZMBH (Zentrum fuer Molekulare Biologie), the DKFZ (German Cancer Research Center) and the EMBL (European Molecular Biology Laboratory). I was supported by a scholarship of the Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
