I am a biomedical researcher passionate about combating infectious diseases through RNA technologies. During my undergraduate studies, I developed a broad interest in extracting wisdom from our molecular machinery. I was captivated by the concept of RNA-induced silencing, which achieves high adaptability and specificity by utilizing an effector protein and a short guide RNA, known as microRNA.My doctoral research was dedicated to unraveling the molecular mechanisms governing microRNA regulation. I specifically investigated how RNA sequence and structure dictate distinct biogenesis pathways. My approach involved analyzing diverse sequencing data, quantifying the biochemical properties of microRNAs, and screening for biologically meaningful RNA features. This in-depth knowledge enabled me to design a small hairpin RNA, an artificial microRNA precursor used in gene therapy, with double the potency.After completing my Ph.D., I was eager to further hone my skills in RNA design for practical applications. I am currently developing an optimal RNA probe for pathogen detection and characterization using machine learning. I aspire to resolve public health challenges with my comprehensive background in both basic and biomedical research, coupled with my laboratory and computational skills!
