I am a market access professional with over 20 years experience assessing, developing and delivering reimbursement strategies for new pharmaceutical and biotech products.I contribute to global level projects via an ongoing collaboration with FingerPost Consulting. This UK-based team of product launch and pricing experts has a network of local market access specialists based in over 30 countries. My involvement includes the conduct of primary research in Australia and Japan; secondary research across HTA markets; and technical and strategic input. With a background in clinical research, in-licensing, strategic planning, health economics and outcomes research in roles at Janssen, Roche and AstraZeneca, I have an extensive understanding of the drug development process and knowledge across a broad range of products and therapy areas.Working with Medicines Australia and Government Affairs consultancies, I have co-ordinated industry regulatory working groups, prepared policy briefs, inquiry submissions and consensus documents for feedback to Government on consultations and proposed legislation. As a clinical pharmacist, in urban, rural and remote hospital settings, I am aware of the importance to patient care, and challenges associated with, working as a front-line healthcare professional. Most of all, I continue to be inspired by what the right drug administered to the right patient at the right time can do! On a recent trip back to my home town, I met a family friend who grew up on a neighbouring farm. Robert had just ceased Keytruda after two years of successful treatment for advanced melanoma. Having been present at poorly attended immuno-oncology sessions on the last morning of ASCO - to queuing for entry to Keynotes; hearing clinicians say they had operated on patients as they mistook the 'flare' as progression - to management of common AEs and the ongoing combinations being trialled in numerous tumour types, to meet one of the many patients enjoying the benefits of decades of research, investment and dedication is always motivating.
