Peer Mentors assist with mentoring, retention, and guiding first-year students during their transition to Aurora University from their arrival on campus at orientation in August through the end of the first year. Peer Mentors will work closely with Campus Life and IDS 1150 Instructors to refer first-year students to resources and support services across campus. Peer Mentors provide guidance in a professional and enthusiastic manner while representing Aurora University. Attend Peer Mentor Training (approximately 10 hours during the week of August 19-23, 2024).Lead first-year student groups at orientations in August to various events and resources.Assist in the facilitation and management of orientation activities. Communicate with mentees on a regular basis during the academic school year and refer students to resources and support services across campus. Attend or host a least one campus event monthly with mentees. Schedule at least one individual meeting per semester with each assigned mentee. Report and refer students of concern in a timely manner as appropriate to university officials.Communicate regularly with assigned IDS 1150 Instructor regarding first-year students, including attending class meetings to discuss outreach initiatives to first-year students.Attend monthly staff meetings and trainings. Other duties as assigned.

I cashier at the Aurora University bookstore. I put out new merchandise. I pick and ship online orders, dust the bookshelves, I zone the store

I moved furniture at Aurora University. I set up beds in the dorms and pick up debree after storms. I enter invoices.

I unload and receive items off the truck and scan the items into our system, I pick orders from their stock location that customers requested and put away items that are unloaded from the truck into their stock location. I put away customer orders so they are all together and ready to be delivered. I pack and send items that we are not selling anymore to stores who need them more than us when they or corporate requests it. I do cycle counts to make sure inventory is accurate; our goal is to go through inventory twice a year. I organize items based on the customer they are going to. I deliver the product to the customers and put new product in their vending machines and make sure they know it is delivered and having them sign off on the delivery as well as conducting a cycle count on the product in their vending machines. I email vendors to check in when product is supposed to be delivered. I answer customer phone calls. I use the scale to measure quantities of parts. I palletize boxes and other bulk items. I open boxes using a box cutter and tape them back together. I scan items into different locations.

I serve food for events at Aurora University and help clean up afterwards. I help set up for events such as graduation. I make and serve popcorn at Aurora University movie nights. I help serve food at AU4U Freshman orientation events and board of trustee dinners.

I helped customers on the sales floor including the juniors, women’s, men’s, shoes, home, beauty, intimates and accessories, toys, and kids departments, zoned the sales floor, folded tables, color coordinated merchandise, cleared out fitting rooms, gave savings advice, took out drive up orders, picked and pack online orders, found missing order items, checked last received dates of items, cashiered which deals with a lot of coupon handling, customer service, price changes, back-stocked, double checked inventory count, I worked the jewelry counter and take out jewelry to show customers, exchanges, receive customer phone calls and confirm we have items in our store, help customers navigate and order items on the Kohl’s app and get free shipping, reticketing items without a tag, received and package Amazon returns, printing Kohls cash, and replenishment.

I sold pool passes, snack bar cards, and day tickets for the Butterfield Park-district pool as well as answering customers Park-district questions

I planed and set up activities for campers, watched campers in the pool, park, and sandpit, helped campers with crafts

Assisted teacher in teaching a tap and ballet dance class for young students. I helped show them the dance moves and remember the dance, helped set up activities, and made sure they were being safe. I came to their recital and helped perform their dance from backstage
