Olin.js is a student-led and -developed project-oriented approach to learning modern web application development. The course quickly familiarizes students with Node.js as a web server framework and ES5 JavaScript as a responsive client-side language with four weeks of introductory instruction and three weeks of partner labs. Along the way, students learn the basic layout of the web; how to deploy and maintain large applications; important development strategies, skills, and technologies; and how to design and manage complex, multi-developer software projects. Students spend the last six weeks of the course putting their knowledge and skills to the test by designing and developing their own web applications.See the course website at olinjs.github.io and the course repository at github.com/olinjs/olinjs.

● Built an end-to-end pipeline which handles social activity notifications within groups.● Implemented infrastructure to store and serve group last activity time; modified the client home screen to display recent activity first.● Requested access to the issue backlog and fixed over 10 bugs and crashes.

Wrote and maintained client-side code (Angular, Backbone, d3) for Onshape's full-cloud 3D CAD web application.● Implemented a redesign of the version control workflow.● With another intern, used Protractor to build an end-to-end testing framework for Onshape Drawings.● Implemented five smaller features and fixed over 40 bugs throughout the client-side codebase.

● Collaborated with two other interns to design and implement a user-facing data visualization web app for a DARPA contract using D3.js.● Manipulated the existing Mongo database and Java back end in order to store additional data and provide it to the web app.● Evaluated and tuned an experimental categorization algorithm implemented with Python scikit-learn.
