Stephen joined the Internet industry with U-NET in 1998, managing R&D as the company was acquired by Via Networks Inc before moving as operations manager to Opal Telecom where he built their IP network to support the Breathe platform (later this would become TalkTalk) and later developed the IP business division. In 2002 he founded Telecomplete, developed the business strategy and successfully established a multimillion pound turnover company.In 2007 he joined Google’s Global Infrastructure Group and undertook roles in peering, network design and architecture standards, later moving to the Global Network Acquisition team, responsible over the Africa / Middle-East / India regions for strategic planning and infrastructure acquisition of terrestrial and submarine network capacity, datacentre space and strategic investments.He founded IX Reach in 2007, establishing them as a leading European wholesale network and colocation provider offering simple bundled solutions to ISPs and content providers to expand into new markets. Console Connect acquired IX Reach in 2015, but in 2017, Stephen acquired Console's global network business and relaunched the IX Reach brand.Stephen also served 10 years as a Director of the London Internet Exchange (LINX) – one of the world’s largest Internet hubs, 3 years as a Director of the Manchester Network Access Point (MaNAP), and 5 years as an Internet Watch Foundation funding council member.
