Staff Nurse - Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
St. Mary’s Medical Center is a fully accredited teaching hospital, which has 403 licensed beds. The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) performs pacemaker and AICD implantations, diagnostic and interventional cardiac, electrophysiology (EP), and interventional peripheral vascular procedures. The Cath Lab also admits and recovers all their patients and assists with TEE, cardioversion and tilt-table procedures.As a Staff Nurse in the Cath Lab I quickly integrated my previous skills into the interventional cardiac component. On a daily basis I participate in patient care through admitting and recovering cardiac patients, cardiac and invasive monitoring, IV medications and titration, resuscitation, STEMI emergency care in both circulating and monitoring roles, balloon pump setup and monitoring, EP cases in collaboration with UCSF Electrophysiologists, including left atrial appendage ablations and full 3D mapping and ablation. Additionally, I was placed in charge of charges/billing audits and integration of the new McKesson monitoring and charges system.
