My background is interdisciplinary and diverse. The central focus of my talents has always been the creation of effective learning environments whether formal, informal, in-person, or virtual. My research approach is primarily qualitative and ethnographic, and includes survey construction and analysis. PhD (2011) in Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State. My research seeks ways for people and information systems to better understand each other across cultural and technological boundaries. As a scholar of information science and technology, I am interested in the complex philosophical, conceptual and cultural underpinnings of information. Information and its dynamics are central to the foundations of cognitive science, communications, epistemology and philosophy of science. As a philosopher of information and information ethicist, I work in areas as diverse as philosophy, social media, intercultural communication, and information science. Beyond my research interests in technologies and information sciences, I have 25 years of experience as a trainer and classroom instructor. I have trained employees in methods of process improvement (in English and Marshallese languages), taught community education courses in Marshallese language and culture, basic computer literacy and word processing for Marshallese employees, intercultural communication and leadership for American managers, and new employee orientations.Following my masters degree I worked as a lead instructor for a training organization, delivering training of ERP and CRM applications to a wide variety of organizations, including Agilent, Titleist, Northeastern University, Telstra, USAA, and Eagle Family Foods. I subsequently managed teams of trainers delivering instruction for clients such as Goldman Sachs and H&R Block.Specialties: Information Ethics, Semantic Technologies, Learning and Culture.
