About Saagar Gupta

I treasure helping organizations scale up, by cultivating the potential of their leaders and systems, to deliver on impactful visions. As a strategic thinker, I analyze data, evaluate ROI, and launch strategic plans that balance an organization's current capacity with the growth necessary to fulfil their vision. As a leader, I'm collaborative, inquisitive, and results-oriented. I love building high-performing teams that achieve ambitious goals together. I find joy as a volunteer, foodie, and Yogi. I love music and shows and (unsurprisingly) my favorite place in DC is the Kennedy Center.

I lead Community-Based Learning & Research programs at the Graduate and Undergraduate level for American University in Washington, D.C. Each semester, I oversee:-An add-on "Community Service-Learning" credit that furthers what students learn in class through experiential learning opportunities with nonprofit organizations across the DMC. In 2022 alone, over 90 students worked with 50+ nonprofits in different areas averaging more than 50 hours of volunteer work that advanced their academic understanding of topics. Several students received paid offers to continue their work with nonprofits after the program!-"Community-Based" Learning Courses that go beyond the traditional classroom environment and give hands-on experience by tying Learning Objectives and Projects to nonprofit work. The entire class engages with local nonprofits, doing approximately 20hrs of service each, and work with the nonprofit throughout the semester to create a positive impact through their class.-The President's Volunteer Service Award, a distinguished honor for those who commit over 100 hours of their time to community service in a one-year period. Recipients receive a signed letter from POTUS, a certificate of achievement, a medallion to be worn during graduation, and other recognitions of their commitment to community service.-The Eagle Endowment for Public & Community Service. Named the "Top College Philanthropic Organization in the US" in 2017. This was the first student-led endowment in the US and gives grants of up to $1,000 and a year of mentorship to students looking to create impactful community projects in the DMV. For over 20 years, the Eagle Endowment has given grants that transform the communities they work within and you can see the impact of several of these projects to this day.I also administer "GivePulse", a volunteer and impact tracking tool that we use to measure our institutional impact across the DMV.
