Seth Aaron is a Guidance and Control Engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory with years of experience in terrain relative navigation, perception, and simulation. For the past few years he has been working in sensor simulation and post-processing for assessing the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover Lander Vision System. He also worked on the DSENDS end-to-end Entry, Descent, and Landing (EDL) flight dynamics simulation of the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover. Recently he was on the EDL operations team for the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover assessing entry parameter updates and estimating landing ellipse miss distance. Currently Seth is assessing Lander Vision System performance during EDL for the Mars Sample Return mission.He holds a M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University. He focused on control system engineering and robotics throughout his university studies and currently employs them for planetary landing applications.
