Human Rights Officer
- Monitor and report on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Human Rights (HR) abuses in conflict zones.- Conduct daily assessments of the situation, utilizing multiple information sources and conducting interviews with activists, defenders, and eyewitnesses.- Contribute to the monthly Secretary-General (SG) report and draft specialized reports capturing specific incidents and overall conditions.- Ensure continuous monitoring and follow-up on incidents for a thorough understanding of the situation.- Develop and maintain a robust network of contacts both within and outside MENA to boost information gathering and collaborative efforts.Skills- Advanced research and analytical skills for effective monitoring and documentation of violations.- Proficient in conducting interviews and building relationships with a diverse range of sources.- Keen attention to detail for accurate information verification and corroboration.- Skilled in navigating complex political and military environments to assess impacts on human rights.- Commitment to confidentiality and the no harm principle in all information handling.- Prompt in delivering timely inputs for reports to provide up-to-date and reliable data.- Expert in crafting detailed reports, incorporating background context, direct sources, and incident analysis.- Dedicated to persistent monitoring and follow-up on reported incidents.- Strong networking and relationship-building capabilities to cultivate a comprehensive network of contacts.
