Sabel Samone-Loreca has spent most of her adult life advocating for the fight against HIV/AIDS, focusing on the needs of trans, non-binary, and LGBTQAI youth. Whether it was HIV/AIDS prevention and care, or sharing her experience as a Black trans woman, she continues to inspire others through her intentions and actions.Samone-Loreca has acquired many achievements including being the first trans clinical social worker at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles in the early 2000’s, first out trans woman to get married in California, one of the first trans women to serve on the city’s HIV commission where she is currently a cochair, and the first Black trans woman to be featured as a spokesmodel for “HIV Stops With Me,” one of the longest running US HIV prevention campaigns.She has been featured in films, publications, and online news platforms such as The Scene, Vice, National Geographic’s Gender Revolution, NPR, OUT Magazine, Transparent, Glee, Metanoia.com, Trans Women of Color Collective, The Weed Show, Jonathan and Sergey Talk Show, The Fight Magazine, Positively Aware, Trans Experience LA series, and was a previous winner of the Quest pageant, a national pageant for trans women. Sabel continues to advocate and support trans lives both in front and behind the lens. She currently works as a personal trainer at the EveryBody gym in Los Angeles, was a subject on a studio feature documentary which will be released on a major streaming platforming this fall, and has been developing original content alongside production company Intuition Films.
