The bond between me and computers started when I was 7 years old. Since I am hailing from a remote village, I did not have any opportunity to know about computers before 7. My father made me witness the computer in his office as he was an inspector in National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority. Still, I can remember on that day I played a chess game on that PC with Windows XP Service pack 1 Operating System.Due to the financial difficulties we encountered after the demise of my father at my age of 9. We couldn’t get a PC at home until I turned 13. When I turned 13, my aunt gave a Pentium 3 laptop. I used it by installing Windows XP service pack 2. So, throughout my school days, I was excited to do projects that will help me to navigate from “Hello world” to a simple first-person shooter engine. This passion carried me through my university life at University of Moratuwa. I have never imagined in my life that I will be exposed to this amount of resources at university. I got the opportunity to learn about languages, algorithms, higher mathematics all with the same excitement that drove me as a kid. And I cannot resist to say that I learned truly how much there was yet to learn.Nowadays, working in industry the passion is with me. There are a lot of problems yet to be solved, more real-life problems to solve, more work to do to make the life of people easy and for this I am very excited.
