Prof. Dr. Sabine Hahn (PhD, CNS, RN) has a diverse and distinguished career in research, teaching, patient care, and management. At the Bern University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland, she heads the School of Nursing and the Division of Applied Research and Development Nursing. As President of the Swiss Society for Nursing Science and Visiting Professor at Bournemouth University (UK), she is well networked both nationally and internationally. Sabine Hahn began her career as a qualified psychiatric nurse and worked in direct care from 1985 to 1999 before moving to the field of nursing education and later to a university as a lecturer and junior researcher. Her post-doc studies she did at University of Central Lancashire (UK).Sabine Hahn was significantly involved in several educational revisions in the nursing sector and has extensive expertise in management, leadership, strategic development and academic talent development. With expertise in qualitative research and in-depth knowledge of quantitative research, Sabine Hahn has led major national and international research projects. Her research areas include violence, de-escalation and reduction of coercion in health care, staff retention and development, and quality in psychogeriatric care. Her pioneering work in patient collaboration in research and teaching is particularly noteworthy.She is actively involved in various committees, including the board of the European Violence in Psychiatric Research Group, the European Association of Nursing Researchers, Sigma Theta Tau, and as an associate editor of scientific and professional journals. She also holds positions of responsibility in corporate bodies, including the Board of Directors of CONCARA Holding AG Berne, SPITEX Berne and Logisplus AG Berne. Her contribution also extends to the foundation level, where she is active on the Board of Trustees of the Swiss Patient Safety Foundation and on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Swiss Nursing Science Foundation.
