Hi, I'm Sabrina! I am a Bachelor of Arts student that is majoring in Law and Society at the University of Calgary. I am passionate about understanding the inner- workings of the legal field and how it can change and affect society. My goal is to pursue a career in the legal profession that allows me to contribute meaningfully to the field and my colleagues in order to express advocacy and social justice for clients and communities. My studies have provided me with a good understanding of social justice, the vital role law plays in shaping society, and the different perspectives and theories about law and society and how each concept affects one another. Even though I do not have formal experience in the legal field yet, I am actively seeking opportunities to gain experience due to my desire to always wanting to advance my skills and knowledge of the legal system, processes, and environment. Combined with my strong writing and reading skills, organizational skills, critical thinking skills, communication skills, and my ability to work collaboratively, it has allowed me to learn and comprehend new information in a timely manner and independently to ensure all my tasks are accomplished efficiently and effectively. Additionally, my background in hospitality, administration, and non-profit work has equipped me with valuable skills that are transferable to a legal career. In my previous roles, I was able to hone in and prove my capabilities in my organizational and problem-solving skills while working in a fast- pace environment. It also allowed me to excel in teamwork and providing excellent service and support in order to foster a commitment to not just to advocacy but also to my community, clients, and colleagues. I am excited to connect with legal professionals that can offer some insight and mentorship opportunities. I am also interested in exploring positions in the legal community to gain a hands-on experience that allows me to not only apply my skills and knowledge but also further develop them, allowing me to continue to learn. Let us connect and discover ways we can work together to make a positive impact!
