Master of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Communication. Bachelor of Science from Edgewood College in Sociology and Communication. Communicating is an essential part of my life. I've always been fascinated with the power that rhetoric has in influencing culture and our own psyche, and so my time in academia has been spent learning about the patterns that exist in society, and how communication is used to oppose or maintain those institutions. Most of my research has been focused on organization communication and how it is reflected in broader societal norms.Previous research interests include tattooing and policy communciation, organizational values, work-life balance, gender discrimination in tattooing, emotive dissonance, interpersonal communication, organizational identity, alternative sexual education, sexual education disparities, and sexual consent rhetoric.By Master's thesis focused on the communciation tactics utilized by human resource professionals when enforcing tattoo and dress code policies and how that enforcement communicates organizational values. It will be published via ProQuest in August 2020.I have academic and field experience with empirical and qualitative analysis, research design, interviewing, focus groups, recruiting, data collection, and the presentation of research.I also have training and experience in illustration (digital and traditional), graphic and web design, basic HTML5 coding, employee training, instructional design, marketing, marketing research, and internal communications.My artistic endeavors include jazz vocals and instrumentation, community/university choirs, metal working, carpentry, and interior design. Other hobbies I thoroughly enjoy are gardening, exploring new music, traveling (pre-SARS-CoV-2), making art, and spending time with loved ones.
