As the Innovation Partnerships Manager - Digital at the Office of the Vice President of Research + Innovation, I provide sector-specific expertise to help stimulate innovation and connect partners in industry, not-for-profit or community groups with the UBC research community.

I worked in research development at UBC's School of Biomedical Engineering. This included working on grant applications, particularly large-scale multi-investigator cross-institutional applications (e.g. CFI, CREATE), as well as knowledge translation/mobilization activities, metric tracking and reporting.

I was a Wallenberg-funded Postdoc working with Heather Wiltse and Johan Redström on the project "Design Philosophy for Things that Change." I conducted HCI/interaction design research looking at how to better deal with ever-increasing technological complexity and withdrawal of technologies in a more responsible way in the context of design. For instance, I approached issues arising from surveillance capitalism through speculative design and qualitative methods in my work.

I have developed and taught undergraduate and graduate-level HCI, design studio, and design research methods courses and lectures across seven different universities in four countries. I have mentored student teams in design and also mentored and co-taught with less experienced peers. Teaching core undergraduate studio courses in Interaction Design as well as Design Research Methods classes for Masters students

Throughout my PhD studies I worked as a research assistant (RA) for SIAT Professors RonWakkary (7 terms) and Brian Fisher (2 terms). In this role, I conducted literature reviews andqualitative studies, co-designed research artifacts, produced academic publications, and helped with grant applications. Much of this work was funded through SSHRC, NSERC, and GRAND grants.

In 2013/2014, over three terms, I was funded as a Research Assistant by ACM administered through SFU to help organize the top-tier ACM conference on Designing Interactive Systems (DIS 2014); it had over 300 international attendees, 3 parallel tracks, exhibitions etc. (see www.dis2014.org).

After graduating with my Masters, I worked for nearly two years as the program manager of the Interaction Design B.A. Program at the HfG. This program was only 1.5 years old when I joined. I helped to further build it into one of the most successful Interaction Design programs in Germany.The HfG is one of the most prestigious design schools worldwide.
