I worked with “MENA Projektpartner e.V.” (the official liaison office of the Egyptian German-Arab chamber of Industry and Commerce in Germany) on a project sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology whose main purpose was to support the Egyptian entrepreneurship ecosystem. My tasks included: 1) inviting and selecting groups of Egyptian entrepreneurs to travel to Berlin to explore the German entrepreneurship ecosystem in 2014 and in 2015, 2) organizing a round-table discussion on entrepreneurship ecosystems for the startups' community in Alexandria, 3) organizing a conference in Cairo introducing the established Egyptian-German business community to the Egyptian startups and conducting business matchmaking activities, 4) conducting the necessary research and delivering a comprehensive report titled “Regulatory and Legal Challenges Facing Egyptian Startups”, and 5) organizing a workshop on “Co-Working Spaces” in Alexandria.

SolverMine was an online open innovation intermediary with a primary focus on the Middle East. Businesses, non-profit organizations, and governments were invited to post challenges related to their operations, R&D, market research, and business processes on our platform. The goal was to generate innovative crowd-sourced solutions from the platform community and award the most innovative ones. The startup was accelerated by “Flat6labs; the leading startups accelerator in the Middle East” and also benefited from “enpact; a regional mentoring program”. We worked with large entities such as Microsoft Egypt, Misr El Kheir Foundation, and others and were featured many times by local,regional, and international media. In the first month after the platform launch, we had more than 1000 registered solvers. Three challenges related to renewable energy, education, and agricultural waste management were posted and solved through our platform.The startup / platform is no longer active.
