Research, design and estimate economic impact reports for NC hospitals. Perform data analysis using multiple data sources to document the state of the North Carolina Hospital market today and to predict effects of proposed legislation on hospital financials and access to care. Research and maintain the NCHA Community Benefit Guidelines, which was adopted.

This program is a joint effort with UConn College of Continuing Studies and national HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society). Its goal is to provide distance education to professionals about current topics in healthcare information technology. Students can earn a certificate if they pass a minimum number of classes. I provided interim.

Assistant Professor, Department of Finance/Health Care Management, School of Business.Started a line of research into the effects of market factors on quality of care (see Working Papers below). Developed, administered, and analyzed a web-based survey to New England health professionals. The survey evaluated the feasibility of a distance-learning.

Maintained all www cgi PERL scripts on the department server. Managed a four-person project team to build a Java/Oracle class registration system for 10,000 participants. Also, designed, developed specifications, built database in Oracle, co-programmed and co-installed. Designed, developed, programmed in PERL, and maintained a web-base ad hoc query.

Reviewed code for accuracy and implemented standards to ensure quality research in the analysis of the Russia Longitudinal Monitoring Survey.

Developed a model for use in grant applications, which calculated expected medical savings of a cure for hemophilia and compared it with current prophylactic treat-ment. Results were presented by Dr. Harold Roberts at the annual World Hemophilia Conference, Ireland, June 1996.

Provided campus-wide technical and programmer support for SAS users. Assisted in benchmarking our various systems for cross-platform comparisons.

Developed specifications for, programmed functional pieces of the new proprietary software system that supports the administration of multiple types of employer benefits.

Managed project teams to convert and set up new clients. Customized the proprietary software to the needs of over 20 clients. Co-developed training materials and co-taught all nationwide incoming System Support Consultants about the architecture of our Reporting Subsystem. Provided production-level support for up to 8 fortune 500 clients at a time.
