I’ve been on the inside. I spent 18 years of my career as a marketer, business leader, and an innovator – both agency and client-side. Here’s the remote work twist … I became a remote work pioneer for The Clorox Company in 2010. I worked remotely for 8 years while at Clorox leading large, hybrid teams responsible for over $250M of sales and $25M in marketing budget, and working with up to 7 different agency partners remotely at any given time. I was the first fully remote member of the Leadership Team that ran a $1B division. And I co-founded the first-ever Virtual Workforce Employee Resource Group, which grew to over 750 global members.The way we work was changing prior to the pandemic, it was dramatically impacted with the rapid transition to remote work, and is changing yet again as many organizations move to hybrid - yet leaders had not been taught the modern leadership skills to be effective in today’s virtual world of work. I have experienced first-hand how hard it truly is to lead across distance.
