Lead and manage the Nutrition Science portfolio, processes and protocols to drive the Simplot Australia health and wellbeing agenda.Core responsibilities included:• Managing personnel (three direct reports)• Working cross functionally with Marketing, Innovation, Quality, Procurement and Legal teams to deliver the corporate strategy.• Establishing phase 1 of the corporate Health & Nutrition Strategy.• Building and leveraging relationships with key health, nutrition, regulatory and industry bodies.• Participating in new product development and nutrition research projects, identifying and scoping the nutrition potential of new products and improvements for existing products.• Providing regulatory advice to ensure product compliance.• Developing labelling guidelines and training of product development personnel.• Co-ordinating ongoing monitoring and verification programs to substantiate product nutrition information and claims.• Providing nutrition information and advice to internal and external customers.• Investigating and identifying nutrition education opportunities, developing targeted nutrition communication resources and product promotional material for consumers and health professionals.• Keeping abreast of new technologies, emerging health, nutrition and consumer trends, issues and challenges and legislative changes.• Delivering health and nutrition insights for integrated business planning and new product development.

Management of projects primarily within the Bakeries portfolio, and involvement in Frozen Vegetable portfolio projects.This included:• Planning timelines and monitoring and reporting on their progress.• Product development.• Pilot scale and factory trials.• Indicative costings.• Documenting formulations and processing procedures.• Setting quality standards.• Approval of packaging artworks.• Monitoring initial commercial production runs.
